History of Ashdown

The city of Ashdown was founded in 1867 between the Little and Red Rivers. This location proved to be ideal for industry, and the abundance of timber brought manufacturing plants to the city by the 1950s. From its opening in 1968, the Ashdown Mill has steadily grown in size, covering over 2,500 acres, housing two paper machines and employing over 900 people.
