Terri Tischler, Stephanie Blier and Gina Valachy represented Team Domtar in the Raise a Reader fundraising drive.
Volunteers from the Kamloops Mill are working to promote literacy in their community. In support of the local Raise a Reader campaign that seeks to raise the importance of reading and writing, the mill volunteers spent time reading to school-aged children.
“It’s an opportunity to meet new people and give back to our community,” said Gina Valachy, executive administrator at the mill and volunteer. “It’s just a couple of hours in our morning, time to make a true difference.”
“It felt really great to help truly passionate people like the representatives of Raise a Reader in their cause,” added Terri Tischler, Health and Safety Coordinator and fellow volunteer.
The Raise a Reader program is designed to boost awareness about literacy and raise funds to support literacy throughout the Kamloops area. They support local literacy programs that reach every demographic from babies and grandparents to adults with reading challenges.Share
