Sherbrooke Job Fair
This April, the Windsor Mill participated in the Estrie region’s major job fair. With over 3,000 job seekers in attendance, this event is a great opportunity to find new talent and fill positions as colleagues retire.
The human resources team was able to count on the support of several colleagues who also became head hunters for the duration of the event. Why participate? For Marc Cloutier, operations coordinator with 35 years of service, it’s about pride for the mill and a great way to make it shine. Stéphane Palin, finishing superintendent, who at the time was looking for supervisors for his sector, said it was a great opportunity to make initial contact.
Above all, this activity makes it possible to gain a better understanding of the talent available on the market, whether individuals are ready to change jobs and to learn more about why someone wants to work at Domtar. According to Alexandra Lebel, senior advisor, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, among those applying for positions at the mill, many cited its emphasis on the importance of health and safety, the environment and sustainable development as a motivating factor—demonstrating that it’s not just who we are, but how we operate that can have a positive impact on recruitment.
