Estrie Recognition Award

To mark the 30th anniversary of its annual Estrie region recognition gala, the Sherbrooke Chamber of Commerce highlighted the contributions of 30 companies, well recognized for their regional impact.

A company per year was selected among the 140 that have previously won awards since 1986, and who have continued to prosper. It is with great pride that the Windsor Mill received the distinction for 2002.

In 2002, Domtar was awarded the Estrie Recognition Award in the Large Company category and its human resources management had been highlighted. The parallels between 2002 and 2016 are remarkable. “Back then, we spoke of the challenge of workforce renewal; today we are living it. We spoke of cogeneration and were inaugurating our first turbo-generator; in 2016, we are preparing to build a second one. We spoke of the possibilities of hybrid poplars and today, we are not only cultivating these, we are also noting our many advancements in this field. We also spoke of continuous improvement and Kaizen, all still very relevant today!” said Windsor Mill Manager Eric Ashby. “One thing remains the same, and that’s the pride of our employees,” added Sylvain Bricault, operations manager.
