EarthChoice Ambassadors Lend Nature a Hand

Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill, South Carolina

EarthChoice Ambassadors in Fort Mill enjoyed a crisp, fall morning freshening up the horse barn at the Anne Springs Close Greenway.

A hidden gem amid a fast-growing suburban city, the greenway is a 2,100-acre nature preserve and a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The equestrian program, one of the most popular at the park, offers riding and training facilities, as well as boarding quarters, trails and trained equestrian staff.

More than 50 Domtar employees and family members gave an October Saturday morning to sand and repaint the horse stables, and to clear brush to make way for more parking at the barn. Volunteers also landscaped the garden areas around the equipment storage facility.

After all the paint had been used, the brush cleared and the new flowers and shrubs planted, volunteers enjoyed a hot barbecue lunch at an outdoor picnic.

Creating a sustainable community is just as important as sustainably managing our environment and natural resources. These few hours will benefit the community for years to come.
