Teaming Up to Read with Dryden Ice Dogs
Dryden Ice Dogs book giveaway
The Dryden Mill is teaming up with the local Junior A hockey club to promote literacy and the joy of reading in the community.
The project was kicked off at a recent game where Domtar made books available to hockey fans right at home in the Dryden Memorial Arena. Ice Dogs team members and volunteers were on hand with representatives from Domtar to distribute brand new books to fans of all ages. It was a successful kick-off that began with our participation in the local radio morning show and Jim Blight’s dropping of the puck at center ice.
“As part of our commitment to support our local community, we are proud to work with the Dryden GM Ice Dogs to share the gift of reading and to help equip students for learning,” said Jim Blight, Dryden Mill General Manager. He added, “It was fantastic to see children, parents and grandparents browsing through the selection of books we had available at the game.”
The next “Teaming Up to Read” event will take place at the Dryden Public Library, where members of the Ice Dogs and Domtar representatives will host reading circles for children. The focus will be on a book series titled “Brady Brady,” featuring a young child who learns some important lessons through the sport of hockey. How Canadian!Share
