Supporting the next generation of graphic designers

Jan Martin (Domtar), Joseph McConkey, Breanna Petrucci, Ernest Poag and Eric Demski (Domtar) with the two donated computers.

Domtar recently had the opportunity to partner with a local high school’s graphic design department to offer a student a real-life work experience. For the past couple of months our intern, Breanna Petrucci, has been with Domtar’s in-house graphic design team creating designs, working on campaigns, updating files and various jobs. She has also had the opportunity to interface with other departments to gain a better understanding of how business units work together.

We have regular check-in meetings with Breanna’s teacher to make sure the internship is a positive educational experience. According to Breanna, her experience has been phenomenal, and has reinforced her decision to become a graphic designer. She also has a new appreciation for paper, where paper comes from and how to design for printed promotions.

In addition to the internship, Domtar also donated two Apple iMac computers to the high school’s graphic design department. These computers will give students more hands-on tools to further their studies.
