Strong presence at local trade show
Steve Fletcher, Senior Buyer, Purchasing, Kingsport Mill
The Kingsport Mill, along with the Regional Center for Advanced Manufacturing (RCAM), organized the Third Annual Industrial Trade Show. The purpose of the show is for the exhibitors to introduce our mill’s Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Manufacturing and Maintenance employees, as well as the public, to new and innovative products.
The first year, the event was held on-site at the mill’s training room. But, for the past two years, RCAM, which is located adjacent to the mill property, has been gracious enough to allow their facility to be utilized for this popular trade show – a win-win for both the exhibitors and employees.
The community of Kingsport also benefits from the event by bringing activity to the downtown core and because all exhibitors are asked to make a donation to the local United Way. Donations to United Way of Kingsport for 2011 totaled $11,500.
RCAM benefits from the show by being able to showcase their facility through an event that is open to the public at large, which can enter free of charge. And, the exhibitors enjoy making sales contacts without having to knock on doors!Share
