History of Kingsport
Situated in the Northeast corner of Tennessee, Kingsport got its name from an early boat yard known as William King’s port. Historically a staging ground for westward migration, frequent visits by frontiersmen like Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett give the city a colorful past. Kingsport’s location on the Holston River also makes it ideal for industry, including papermaking. Today Domtar’s Kingsport Mill includes 1 paper machine and supports over 300 local jobs.
