Planning for tomorrow’s workforce

The Nekoosa Mill was the host site for representatives from local central Wisconsin schools, the neighboring community and the Chamber of Commerce to discuss workforce training needs in the pulp and paper industry.

General Manager, Mark Bessette, Human Resources Manager, Jeff Siltala, and Human Resources Trainer, Robert Lord, led this valuable dialogue.

The group addressed the variety of positions offered in a pulp and paper operation and the training requirements for success. Emphasis was placed on any skills gap that would cause an employee not to be qualified for a position. Domtar’s hiring and employment practices were also discussed in great detail.

After the meeting, participants broke out into groups for a tour of the pulp and paper mill.

This meeting of organizations with shared interests was another valuable way in which Domtar has reached out to the communities where we do business.
